Dog Diet Labrador and Supplements

If you are possessing a Labrador dog, you are recommended to be highly careful about the diet that you will be giving your dog. The health of especially the Labrador dogs are highly dependant on the nutrition of the diet that you will be providing it. So, while creating a diet chart you should be well aware of the fact that your dog must be given a protein rich diet along with essential nutrients, carbohydrates, fats and useful vitamins and minerals. There are mainly three types of dog food, semi moist, canned and dry. Along with the other food items you can feed your Labrador dog with a food supplements containing important vitamins and minerals.


Though you may feed your dog with supplements containing vital minerals and vitamins, but you must always consult a good veterinary physician. Usually dog owners are not advised to feed their pets with supplements unless they are diagnosed of suffering from any particular type of mineral deficiency. Also, be careful about the quantity and the fixed time at which you will be administering your dog with supplements.

Dog Diet

For an owner possessing a healthy dog is a matter of pride. To keep your dog healthy you need to take care of several aspects of dog care. One of them includes the diet of the dog. To keep your dog healthy it does not mean that you need to feed it with costly dog food packages. In fact, if your dog is fed with only commercial foods it might suffer from vitamin deficiency. It is true that feeding your dog with too much of food would make your dog overweight or obese. At the same time, feeding your dog in low amounts will lead to health damage. So, you should be careful of serving your dog with a balanced dog diet.


While preparing a balanced dog diet chart for your pet you are advised to keep certain aspects of dog food habits in mind. Dogs are carnivore animals and their base food should consist of meat. For their healthy growth they should be given a protein rich dog diet. In fact protein should consist of 20% to 30% of their diet. The meat of lamb, chicken, salmon along with pulses can be offered to your dog.


To stay fit and sound, dogs need energy. So the food for your dog must also contain balanced amount of fat and oils. If you have a young pup or a pregnant dog, you should offer your dog with a calcium rich diet. Calcium and phosphorous help in development of strong bones, teeth, cells and tissues.


Your dog also needs carbohydrates. Food items like pasta, rice and other cereals should be given to the pet. To promote proper functioning of the digestive system you may include green leafy vegetables. Fibrous vegetables promote bowel movements.


Though milk is an essential part of a dog’s diet but it should not substitute water. To attain balance of the body fluid content your dog should take in ample amount of water. Too much consumption of milk may also lead to diarrhea. So, give your dog to drink milk in right amount as it is one of the essential fluids included in a balanced diet along with water.
